Our Building is listed on the National Registry of Historical Places and dates back to a time when young boys made deliveries to small town neighborhood customers, children were playing hopscotch and marbles around the corner, and when locals walked to the "Corner Store" to find wooden barrels of flour, red rind hoop cheese, lard, pickle barrels, tin frog noise makers and gumdrops. Just inside the front door was a standing scale, with a stack of iron weights and a brass slide on the balance arm, just waiting to weigh anything up to 300 pounds.
Ole Tavern on George St can be found on the National Register of Historic Places.
Our historic 1910 building located on George St in Downtown Jackson has transformed from a Grocery to a Restaurant/Bar in 1973 where many famous musicians have graced Ole Tavern with their talents. We also have lingering ghost who likes to cause mischief from time to time!
In 2008 Jason & Shannon Cockrell purchased the building and renovated to what is now know as Ole Tavern on George St.
